Scituate Reservoir

IMG_1925_6_7

You are lucky when, every once and a while, you are able to see the world around you in a very different way…to see it lift out of its ‘normal’ and into the sublime.

I pass the Scituate Reservoir twice daily in my commute to and from work and on this one day it just blossomed with a different light, a different air, a different soul. Luckily I had my camera with me…

As always, special thanks to my dearest spouse Lyn, who does all the heavy lifting in selecting the photos. And thank you sincerely for dropping by the Book of Bokeh. I would also like to invite you to visit my Book of Pain  poetry blog.

  1. Oh – Man! These images are stunning; nothing short of stunning. I am so pleased that you are able to pass this on the way to work. From time to time, I experience this … “sense”, for lack of better word … as I see the wilderness and / or a sunset, etc., and I listen to my heart and soul and stop in the midst of the hurryness … and take a picture … and later on, I am glad that I did. I must mention one more thing, John. Your words at the beginning: “You are lucky when, every once and a while, you are able to see the world around you in a very different way…to see it lift out of its ‘normal’ and into the sublime.” I echo your words, here. I am truly thankful that I can (sometimes) see differently. I don’t remember where I saw these words: “Then we shall see clearly” … May have been a book title; may have been a quote. Peace.

    • T, “I listen to my heart and soul and stop in the midst of the hurryness” is why I love you so much! 🙂

      Peace, my brother!

    • Thank you so much! The conditions were perfect and I was there at the right time. I wish I could say it was with much forethought and careful planning but dumb luck is what it was! 🙂

    • Thank you so much! That is very kind of you! In the end, I agree: #2 is my favorite too. I still cannot believe how lucky I was to be there and that the conditions had been perfect: a warm moist, cloudy day before and then a cold snap at a sunny dawn. Talk about luck! 🙂

  2. Very nice work catching the fog like that. Glad you now have some time to be out again. I can always count on you to capture this type of landscape. Thanks for sharing.

  3. Fog, sunlight filtering through trees surrounding an expanse of water, these are the ingredients for a great shot, and you used them very nicely throughout these photos.

    • That is so very kind of you, thank you! To be honest, to me, 80% of the photograph seems to be just being there to get it at all. I was lucky I caught it at the precise moment and that everything came together so well. 🙂

    • That is very kind of you, Bonnie, and I appreciate that very much! ‘Atmospheric’ is the perfect word for how different it was that one day after a warm wet evening before. 🙂

    • Me too, Cindy! In fact, I have about 20 of the nearly same shot. I kept taking it over and over again, just to make sure I had it! 🙂
