Newport is a seaside city of Rhode Island famous for its elegant and rich mansions, homes built by the ubber rich at the turn of the century just before the implementation of an income tax. It is now an enclave for only the merely wealthy. Newport is also a boutique spot and boasts the National Lawn Tennis center, a famous old Catholic University, a large Navy base and elegant seafood dining.
